i was booked in at ea for mapping my car there very cheap but after what i heard i assume thats why because there not the best there is. i dont personally know but every bit of info i got on them wasnt good. msd mapped my car and its the best running saph ive ever had i can sit in 5th at 30 mph and it just purrs perfectly smooth and thats on 865cc injectors and bd14s

I dont know anyone who could ever fault MSD. My car runs absolutely perfect since Stu mapped it. And the service he gave was exceptional.

No other car i ever own will ever go anywhere else

A friend had his Pulsar fitted with ''Piggy Back Chip'' there and had some small issues that were cleaned up well and he was satisfied with the results.

ALL tuners make mistakes any that say otherwise are liars, they would not be human if they didn't, if one told mne her never had I would not use him as I would not trust him.
The trouble is with reputations you only get a one sided story, the bad side mostly, other things are beyond the control of the tuner eg if a brand new component fails shortly after fitting, as some do, especially electrical ones, the tuner gets blamed.
We just have to hope they are silly mistakes, that are soon sorted and cause no damage.
My fave tuner started at age 14 tinkering with cars/bikes etc, and to date he is just himself and one other, and he is like nearly 70!!

engine avantages charged me 280 quid plus vat to fit a head gasket on a engine that wasnt even in a car, the head and block where seperate and he told me he had to machine the face of the block,,i waited 3 fucking months for this to be done as i was told its hard work,, i supplied ALL the parts he charged me 280 plus vat and i paid it as i knew no different, this was at the time of ians mapping of hes car too as that was there when i dropped it off and when i went to collect it

xrt-si is VERY conservative when you find out he was charged 150 quid for a map thats FOC from omex,,,, for hes 2.0 t34 zetec engine,, he paied for a base map

he was given a 2.0 mondeo map for a N/A car with the map sensor readings turned off to allow it to run,,,, he was charged over 900 quid for shite that was never done,, hehad to take the car away to get a new flywheel and cps fitted as the car wouldnt start,, that was a 300 quid bill even though the car left as it arrived

he went back after getting the fly wheel to be told the car still dont start and theresa fuel pump wiring issue that they had to sort, they left the relays hanging in the passenger seat footwell

after me arguing with the stubborn cunt i booked him into MSD myself and fog marched him there and offered to take me back aswell as drive him back up there

hes cars never missed a beat,, stu didnt feel the car was safe to map due to the size and the chassis twisting when he was mapping it but done alot of other work which he never charged for

he got the car back and as you can tell hes converted !!!

alot of people here kiss stus arse and so people think its the clique why they would use him

i wouldnt call my self a mate of stus at all,,,, but kenny and stus work is unbelivable,,,,,, there attention to detail and high standards before they even touch the car,, its unreal

id never use anyone else either,,,, not cause they ain t no better,, just dont need to when hes more than up to the job

he also mapped my old cossie,,,,, that was spot on too and was holding 26.5 psi to the limiter in all gears

anyone whos got a stage 3 cossie take it there for a map and watch the difference


oh and how can i forget jim,,,, kenny worked on jims car from 10am till 7pm NON STOP eating a kebab in the footwell whilst redoing hes bodged wiring loom so he could drive home

they finish at 1 on a saturday,,,, they carried on to help him get home that day rathe than the usual " ill have to keep it here and you come back when its done" line most other garages use

Funny you should say that....when i had my old saff set up at EA's he was rebuilding a big power FRS .

Where is MSD........think im gonna change my tuner after reading this thread

cant beat stu at msd, im all the way in australia and he still has time to help me out with problems with my car and advice, i wouldnt get a chip or authing from elsewhere.stus service is spot on

What you need to try and do it learn for yourself what makes a good set up, then as your tuner is adjusting your car as him to show you what he is doing and why he is doing something a ceratin way.

If it works then great, if it blows your egine then surley the guy must put it right for you.

Well, I can let everyone know once and for all how accurate his rollers are after next weekend. I am meant to be taking one of my Fiesta's up there for a RR day with the FiestaClub GB. The car is completely standard (although running on a Siemens ECU, not Ford EEC-V), will be interesting to see how far out it is.

I know what you are saying. But if a standard car putting out say 70bhp suddenly gets 80-90 bhp then you are gonna know something is wrong.

Have been away for a week....just seen this thread!! Just to confirm to those who are interested....what cossiedave is getting at is the following::

My car went bang because EA fitted an externally wastegated GT35 to my Engine that EA had themselves built a year earlier but had only done 2500 road miles to and from shows . Now I told them to fit the turbo, EA accepted the job, knowing fully well that I had a genuine WRC Cast Tubular Exhaust Manifold!! Without consulting me, EA decided to mount the external wastegate using 15mm plumbing tube 'teeing' into my WRC EGR system rather than do it properly (like Reyland, SCS, NMS or MAD would have) by welding in a proper take off or advise me to change the manifold even!!! EA chose to fit the TIAL wastegate it that way, it was entirely their decision - I did NOT tell them or have any input into the mehod of fitting!! I just supplied the parts!! But Paul Hills keeps telling cossiedave that it was my choice to keep the WRC manifold. Maybe....but Paul should have known that 15mm plumbing tube would not allow the wastgate to open, hence the engine running over 50psi and hence destroy the engine...twice!! (they had two attempts at wrecking my engine) - they even told me that I'd supplied the wrong wastegate as "the spring was too strong" - even though other tuners could get them to run as little as 10 psi when mounted properly!!

So just to clarify... I told EA to fit the turbo, I did not tell them to fit it with 15mm plumbing tube or to destroy my Ł15k engine twice and for me to foot the bill!! Twice!

Anyway, this happened in 2004, so as said, very old news now! And I'm sure EA have learnt from this.....they'd use 20mm plumbing tube now!!

If there are any doubts about my statement here I have dated emails and letters I sent EA before and after these events to prove my side of the story! And would post them up on here if need be. And besides, to those who saw the mounting of the wastegate after my knackered car arrived at SCS, you all know how appalling and shocking the workmanship was and what a massing bodge the whole idea really was.....not my idea!!

I commented here purely as the thread was asking about E.A. Well with my experience of them, I had no option but to comment!!

Another nice job there then. Must admit i found the workmanship below shit. also gave them a fair bit of money but not on that scale.

I assume you tried to pursue it legally?

all i know is i havnt had one person say msd or nms have given them back a car after set up thats shit. whereas quite a few have been far from happy at ea. the proof is in the PUDDING

either that or theres a conspiracy on here against ea

Well, I went up there on Sunday and I can actually say that the roller WERE accurate. We ran 3 different cars throughout the session @ different times (without telling the dyno operator) which had all been run on a different dyno and got the same results +/- 1 bhp. We ran factory cars and got approx. factory outputs, ran modified cars and got higher levels.

Only problem really was that the rollers drop the wheels in quite a way and a couple of the cars had problems with subframes or kits hitting when setting up. Wouldn't recommend a -60mm or more lowered car on there.

Can't vouch for their work, but one of the blokes was talking about a Scooby they had in for a gearbox leak which they are doing under warranty (seems genuine enough, you can see the leaking oil seal, so no dodginess there IMO)
