Default different engine in me saff?

right, seeing all these saffs recently has got me wanting it working again! BUT dont want a cossie engine (not telling what, surprise if i do it!) but,it needs a good stripping and im pretty sure i wont be using a cossie loom, and dont want or need the car loom(stripped,no need for heaters, window switches etc....) but do i need to hook it up in a fashion to keep the lights and brakes?(ABS is electric innit?) what do i NEED?and how could it be done with no link to the engine loom?hmmm..... any ideas?hint,it might have carbs and a turbo and give approx 300bhp,but sounds soooooo much better than cossie lump. seeing as carbs,no loom or ecu!comes with its own.

not a v8!nope! 4 cylinder!hmmm....
lets just say itll make peak power somehere over 10,000 rpm!
i just wanna know how to keep the rest of the car working if i change the motor in it? obviously cant link up the car loom to a engine without the cossie inj setup so will the abs and lights still work?

heheheh!NOOOOOO!!!!! but i am eyeing up a honda blackbird engine! 300bhp @16psi apparently! oh yeah!!!! and i LOVE bike engines!sound awesome and not so much torque itll kill the diff either!OR i could go 550bhp hayabusa engine, but TOO expensive for me at mo!
how do you do away with abs?can i just leave it out?

Nice but bear in mind that the extra weight of the Saff will mean much more strain on the engine. Plus what are you gonna do about the gearbox?

what gearbox?i aint got one in the saff! gearbox mounted to the engine on a blackbird, put it in sideways, extend the propshaft from the diff.roberts your fathers brother. and also will be reducing the weight of saff,NO interior just 2 small seats and bike clocks! fibreglass bonnet and boot, lightweight engine( ) etc etc....with 300bhp itll have circa 250 lb/ft so should be ok.i am just mulling this over at mo,so dont shoot me down just yet!and itll only be used occasionally!got a pug 205 (mi16) for everyday! woohoo!really wanna try the sequential thing too!hmmmm.... just need to figure out a reverse gear now!DAMMIT!

Not trying to shoot you down mate, just giving you food for thought Certainly sounds an interesting project

Will it be as straightforward as it sounds with the gearbox though in order to change it from chain drive? I ask because all the kit type cars & the Smart Car that was converted all still use chain drive & if it were that easy I would have thought they would have changed to a prop. BTW, remember you're gonna have to buy the £600-odd (IIRC) quaife reverse gear too

Kit cars run prop shafts straight off the gearbox, can't be chain driven as the engine is mounted the opposite way round to what it is in the bike.

This is 1 my mate built,MK Indy based on sierra,MK supply the flange to
fit shortened sierra propshaft to gearbox.
