Default Any Aviation Painters (Heli's) (Now With Pics)

Right peoples, just wondered if any of you lot had anything to do with painting Helicopters?

We've got one in for a full paint job and its a bastard cos it has to be stripped back to bare substrate, fiberglass and metal. Obviously a DA is being used on most of it but as far as stripping round the rivets and screws goes we arent impressed with having to do it by hand.

How do you, if any of you, go about prepping one up?

Cheers, Ian.

Normally its the same old questions worded differently. Dont think this ones been done before. And an answer would be helpful.

I've worked on Helicopters, Harriers, VC10's, Tristars and C-17's

As for rivets... By hand im affraid Or we normally use a PMS (Plastic Media Stripping) machine to blast off the paint at about 40psi

It wont affect the metals, But its its fibreglass you gotta do it by hand, Sorry

Charlie Chalk its only a baby compared to what you do but its something very different to what Im used to, cars, bikes and vans.

Only took it on as its a novelty, now we could have a few to do. Another 2 R22's an R44 and the possibility of a couple of planes. Think they are Cessner????

Didnt take any pics of the planes, though we have done a few bits of one recently. Wing tips, nose piece and a few other panels. Ill try and get pics when I go back up the Airport, will be a couple of weeks Id imagine.
