HDTV 1080

Do I need this 1080 stuff?

I want to watch normal TV and play a PS3 on it

The PS3 would benefit from being able to output in true 1080p, but unless you are going full on HD-DVD/BluRay and HD TV (Like SkyHD, VirginHD etc) then I wouldn't bother.... A standard 720p/1080i plasma will look nigh on identical with a PS3 that, IMO of course, it's not worth the extra outlay......
