Pete, does it have to be the new shape or do you like the classic??

You could get yourself a nice sorted P1 or a RA V-LIMITED for that cash and have some to play with..

If you have £12-13k to spend, then you can get yourself a nice 2002 onwards STi. Having this kind of cash to spend I would buy one of these newage cars instead of a classic one..... the newage cars are so much better and stronger out of the box, even if they are heavier.

Ideally you would want to have a Jap STi of this model type, as they are a better car still and have more toys etc. For this kind of money you may struggle though.

If the car is standard (i.e. uk 260bhp) you could spend around another £1500 on upgrades and have a nice reliable 330bhp. With the same car but Jap (standard 280bhp) variety the same would get you around 350+bhp.

Thats what I thought....... until I bought the right Scoob. Never looked back at either Escort Cossie I had or my previous 500+ RS500.

For ME, this Spec C is so much better in every respect. Although it has been slightly *cough* modified.

I bought this in the price range you are on about.

Been talking to a local tuner in Washington and we've worked out for around 2.5K, I can get 380bhp safely out of the car including switching to another turbo.

If you can find one, get a Spec C for the money, good cars I couldn't at the time hence getting a normal STi.

Cheers

Matt

Stronger than Scooby haters would have you believe.

I've been told by several different company's that they will take 350 - 380bhp without any modification needed.

Grey is my favourite colour on the Blobeye

I went the poor end of the scale, and bought a 2003 WRX blobeye from a dealer with full 12 months warranty, as couldn't stretch to a STi but still think it is great as an everyday car and when I can get the rest of the parts 2nd hand will have it to PPP spec, which will only be 265bhp, but still less than 5 to 60 so will be a good car, finding it better on petrol than the cossie as well with a lot less lag, but still love the cossie and would never sell it, But the sti is a stonger car out of the box and if PPP'd is 305bhp, I test drove one and must say a 265bhp scooby on 0-100 would kill my cossie, but then feel the cossie would pull upto 140mph quicker than the scoob, but main advantage of the scoob is a newer car with less worries of rust and the difficulty in getting spares that cossie ownership entails.
Just my two penneth worth

Shaun, agree, SPEC C is a awesome car and if i had another it would defo be the way for me...

Daz1968
I've had a few Scoobs and i have to be honest, known of then would touch my cossie to 100, then again it's near on 450+ bhp now it's back from mapping and with the Zoo rear beam and TCA`s it handles VERY well for RWD, i think alot of people would be suprised..

With over 500 of each I have no problems with the standard newage transmission, although I do have a twin plate clutch. Standing starts are also not a problem for me.
