Default air in my water system.....apparently fixed...!!!

i'm drawing air in from somewhere and can i fuck figure it out.....my ally rad bust so i took an old standard one for a recore...put it on the car and my temp guage is up n down, loads of bubbles in the system....so for a few days i keep taking the header cap off and releasing the pressure....then the rad goes again...take it back...they fix it...put it on the car and the same happens again...... .....i've checked every pipe over and over, done a gas test on the water system......FFS!!!!!...did this problem bust my ally rad in the first place..???........when the car is driven the temp guage goes up n down, but not all the way up like if the head gasket is gone....when i boot it (flat out) the temp goes quite high, but then comes back down.....i still have heating and the pressure in the pipes isnt that great....i dont have a swirl pot on (getting one second hand soon)....i dont want to get the rad fixed if this is going to happen again..........................cheers for ur help Pete.....

have you checked the thermostat.?

is the heater blowing hot all the time?

sounds like an airlock possibly or blockage of some kind.
.is the sytem pressurising-squeeze the coolant pipes to see how hard they are getting.if they are getting rock hard then its pressurising somehow, which could be why your rad went in first place as it tends to go at the weakest point

the ford O ring that only comes with a genuine stat
your rad will not draw in air it will leak coolant
You have the signs of a 4x4 without a stat i would check that the by pass port is being sealed by your stat
You also have the signs of head gasket sure your test is accurate assuming you have bled the system.
Have you checked the multi V belt isn't that worn that it can't drive the pump properly

i have both on my 2wd but my thoughts is perhaps the blades have broken away on your water pump therefore not creating sufficent displacement of coolant

thing is tho, the man says he has air coming in from somewhere. If it was air in the system from an air lock, thats one hell of a lot of air to blow 3 rads.

Is the expansion tank cap working properly (these have a pressure releif valve built into them). Could be worth replacing it.

Only other thing i would suggest is head gasket. Run the engine with the expansion tank cap off, see if you have bubbles coming up through.

Rich.

when this happened to my saph Tony (mitsi Fq) correctly diagnosed it as a shite rad, he said fit a gen ford one and it will be fine, 7 years later its still on the car!
I got the original rad recored as a precuasion, a few weeks later it pressured up, got it recored and it did it again took tony's advise and it's been fine since, apparantly the 4wd pump is a bit too strong so can overpressure a shite rad!(so tony told me)

the heartache comes when you sell it, and then watch it get driven away, then the pain contiues untill you buy another one, got the t shirt

there is something unexplainable about waisting money on a cossie, my mrs just doesnt understand
