If you have a welder, get yourself on a welding course, one of your local colleges will probably do it, learn some good skills, that you can make a few quid with

No probs mate, was just trying to give you an idea as to what you should be expecting to pay to get it sorted, its not that big a job and you have saved yourself a few quid by taking the seats and carpets out

No worries mate, old Fords and no money in the bank aint a good combination !!!
Am sure you will get it sorted though, you not got a mate or someone in the know that could weld it up for you ?? Do a lot of jobs like this in my own spare time for folk and am sure if you asked around you could find someone to do it for you.

Thats usually the best way to learn Smits is to have a go at it yourself
Waste of time trying to sort this with an arc welder though, i've been welding for over 20 years and even i wouldn't try to sort that with an arc !!!!!!

PassionFord Post Whore!!
i did my floor resto on my old S2 and it was far worse than that, i did most of the work, stripping back the carpet etc, nitromors on the floor areas round it, amd cleaned it all up with a wire brush and grinder
then i paid a local guy £80 to grind back to bare metal and weld replacement panels in.
i took the car home, sealed it with seam sealer, then painted the inside.
put the car up in the air, ground back the old underseal and cleaned up the underneath of the welds with a grinder. bit of zinc oxide, then re-undersealed it
throrough job but well worth it, as it will last for years and all in prob took me 10 hours of my time, and spent about £130 all in, with materials, welding and paint etc.
