Default advice needed on first time cossie owner

my friend is moving from spain to uk(yorkshire area).and wants to buy his first cossie.2wd or 4wd.6k max.can anyone give me some advice ,so i can pass it to him.

How long is a peice of string..?

It could last for the next 15 years, or 15 minutes. If it's a well known tuner who built the engine and it's not running massive power, it should be fine.

it will be standard and if too high miles.then he will get one with a rebuilt.
is leather worth going for or cloth?

leather imo but only if in reasonable condition go for a 2wd faster,stronger etc stage 1 will be fine as this is what cosworth wanted it at!

So a stage 1 tuned Cossie 2wd
As long as you look after it will be sound?

Rear dif / gearbox all ok on a Stage 1?

yer easy fella 2wd stuff can handle 350 all day 400 starts to get abit tight tho but can handle it

doesnt matter how much you spend on one

its either going to last a good few years or 2 weeks

and be prepared to have it off the road more times than its on aswell



stage 3 will be fine but you will soon get bored

so if the transmission is stronger and the 205 block is just as strong in a 2wd wot can handle more power in standard form?

if the 205 blokck is stronger why did they make a thicker walled block and most cossies use 200 blocks nowdays

205 block is not as strong as the 200 block but 205 block is just as strong in a 2wd as a 200 block in a 4x4 if that makes sense 200 block was made thicker to be able to cope with the extra weight and stress of the 4x4 system,205 block was and is not weak and can handle big power in a 2wd
