Default Problem with my shoulder

bit stupid to ask on here! but
Has anyone ever had/is having problems with their shoulder mine is fucked!
I went to the doctors back in march as my shoulder had become very painfull, when i lifted it it felt like someone was jaming a knife ito the ball and socket joint! i put it down to putting a gearbox into a car on my own with no ramp etc
The doctor gave me anti inflamatories for it and it helped the problem however it only helped to a point. Now when i lift it i often get similar pains to those before.. it constantly aches, and i can 'Pop' it with hardly any effort It 'grates' when i lift it up high (infront of me) and is 'crunches' when i lift it to the side..
I have no restricted movement however as i can still lift it as high as normal it just makes funny noises
Now ive been back to the doctor and told her these anti inflamatiores havent worked etc and she said 'oh your likey to need physio and or injections' this seemed a little vague to me! why would i need physio if my shoulder 'clunks'? surely its something to do with the joint itself not the muscle (as it works fine)
She did however send me for an X-ray which i assume is to look at the bone and make sure there arent any probs there.

Does anyone know the LIKELY cause of action/treatment given the possible outcomes?
Sorry for the long post but im kinda worried.. i know i should see my doctor but i have to wait till the xray comes back next week
Before i see her again and just wanted a bit of advise in the meantime

it sounds like a frozen shoulder, you need some cream to rub on it (can't for the life of me remember what its call but it starts with an 'm')
its a steriody/deep heat type of cream
Prescription only!!!!

Could be rotator cuff problems..

If you lift it to your side, bend your arm with your palm facing down. (so that your arm is like a right angle)
Then twist your arm (from the shoulder) so that your palm is facing to the front.
- Sorry bloody hard to describe.

Does that hurt like F*ck?

If so then it is rotator cuff..

Hmmmm ,mate i read this it sent alarm bells ringing in me head, this sounds very familiar ,ur pains and dodgy socket (beening able to "pop" ur socket half in half out again.), i went to me chiro he didnt know he had never come accross this prob before but had heard about it, so he said go see ur gp, so i did he sent me to a shoulder specialist, who i turn snt me for x-rays and a mri scan, i had a bankart legion on me right shoulder, basically it where theres a break down in the cartilage that holds ur arm in it socket, has ur doc mentioned a specialist? It defo worth getting on top of dude, i left mine for years not good , it is a long time to fix so go check it out just in case

When you bench press do you keep your elbows tucked in to your sides or do you have them flared out?

I always used to bench with them flared out and my shoulders used to hurt pretty much all of the time.. But now I keep them tucked down.
My shoulder used to pop with every rep on the bench but now it doesn't at all...

I think I've the same. Used to play badminton 4/5 times a week, then this came on and I can't play anymore. Tried deep heat and anti-inflamataries, but no joy. So would rest for about 6 months, then as soon as I play again it kills!

Could be time for me to pop to a specialist too

Yea it doesnt matter how long i rest it its just the same.. pisses me off a treat!

Im not sure how i do it! but i will give your advise a try!

Now that sounds very familiar! the socket does/can feel like its half out sometimes.. ESPECIALLY when it 'pops' or if i move it very quickly..
The Doc hasnt mentioned a specialist, all shes said is that i will more than likely need physio and/or injections.
Obviously if its something more serious i expect they will tell me when my X-Ray returns..
Thanks foe the advise though!

agreed i had really bad sholder probs from not break falling properly (long story) and used 2 b agany when i would sleep but after a few months it went away but then i went to the chiropractor about my back (another long story) and told hmi to have a look at my sholder while he was at it and even tho it had healed pretty much he was still able 2 find the exact point where i had injured it and even fixed it so it was 100% again. dr are useless when it comes to this sort of stuff TBH as they dont really have the time 2 investigate wats wrong etc.

get urself 2 a decent chiropractor they'll sort it and recomend if u need anything majorly done etc
