Default Can a "weld on" wing be fitted with nuts + bolts??

As title really, i have 2 brand new wings for my sierra but i don`t have a welder and was wondering if i could adapt it to nuts and bolts to make them bolt on wings???

Its only my XR4i so not worried about origanality really....

Cheers, Ed.

I was always under the impression that the MOT requires replacement panels to be attached as they were originally when the car was assembled.

THEY HAVE TO BE WELDED, or rather according to the MOT bilble fixed in the SAME MANNER as the oe manufacturers fitting.

if both wings are replaced and fixed using bolts done in a way that looks factory, then I am sure most garages will not even notice.

A few eagle eyed places may stratch their head thinking "I am sure they are normally welded on" but if it looks good enough, i reckon you would get away with it.

I dont see how you could nut and bolt it anyway, fair enough along the top, but not at the bottom :S

As above though, would be an MOT fail and an insurers way out of paying a claim potentially too.

Just rung my local MOT station, he said its fine but he would prefer the wings to be bonded aswell as bolted on, but apart from that, no worries.

Selling it now tho, lack of space and money...

Cheers for the help people...

bolt on won't give the same strength in an impact as welded wings though, same with the fibreglass ones

so whats the dealio with them then in case of an off into the armco/traffic light/pedestarian?

if its just spot welds then the bolts if done right should be as strong if not stronger

It is VERY CLEARLY STATED in the MOT book for anyone that reads it.

mine are converted to bolt on too...

re strength.. i don't believe the outer wings effect strength a great deal anyway.. it's all in the chassis rails/inner wings.
