Default Anyone know about 2.5 transits?

Hi,
Are they all the same engine spec apart from the TD version?
Anyone know what sort of power/torque they produce?
Thanks!

to be honest there all the same the di's, some have banana manifolds some dont, but a little tweek on the pump and egr removed helps a lot, my recovery truck loaded can still pull 70 mph.

the turbos are a little more complicated as have diff pumps and ecu etc but you can put a normal bosch pump onto a turbo van, much more better and reliable

very very reliable engines bullet proof

the later transits are plagued by electrical faults

Very simple and very very reliable engine. The banana manifold engines produce a little more power. You can get the standard non turbo engine to produce a lot more power if you can source a turbo and manifold/down pipe then tweak the fuel pump. The Bosch pumps are easy but they put a plate over the back of the pump to stop you messing.

You can get a load more power with the turbo but then they start to drink fuel. Just tweaking the injector pump up a little will give you more power that you will notice without harming fuel efficiency too much.

on mine to be honest i just remove the arm to butterfly and cable tie open or remove the butterfly itself well easy to do, but you can also weld off the pipe from the manifold

he have a couple of 2.5 transits at work, the only thing i know is that....
they will do over 100mph, it can carry just under a ton in ours i expect that an empty one can carry more but ours have lots of kit in, im not sure how much torque they have but it will pull a house down!!

I'm guessing you're talking about the newer 2.4 Transits as the 2.5 struggle to do 80 let alone 100.
