hot oil is thinner so its quicker to drain out and u get more out

cold oil is thicker so less will drain out and will take longer

always carry out an oil change with hot/warm oil

oh and just smack a smaller socket onto the sump plug

job done

here at kerbside motors we dont have a proper drain pan and use a washing up bowl so cold oil is the flavour of the day so it easy to stop the flow whilst we empty the bowl down the drain, sorry into the oil drum.

A good pair of self grips shpuld take it off if the head is rounded to much to get a smaller socket hammered on mate.

If that fails the next best option is to weld a bigger nut onto the existing nut of the plug, this works every time mate

Would hold off on doing that though until you have a new sump plug as looks rather unsightly seeing a plug with a huge nut welded onto it being reused !!!!
