Default Oil Sump bolt Stuck!

HI folks, in the middle of an oil change for my run around fiesta 1.3i N reg. However its bloody stuck and the nut is starting to round off, any other way of draining the oil?

My mechanic said he's done loads of these in the last couple of years, and that the only way to do it is to weld on a 22' or 24' nut then it comes of easy. but i cant book it in till next week.

Today is my only day of so any other method of getting it done today would be very handyy

Cheers

Luke

Normal sump nut size = 13mm socker

Easy way to do it - get a 12mm 12 sided socket and bray it onto the nut, the force of hitting the socket on will shock the plug to help release tension and the 12mm socket will grip it admirably for you to undo it

If all else fails, weld another nut/bolt to it.

I had to do this once

Do you understand this:

Get a smaller socket, smack the cunt with a hammer over the plug head and then use a ratchet to unbolt it

Or if you dont have a torch take the engine for a long fast run to get the sump warmed up. Then give it a shot... just dont get boiling hot oil all over you

if you were near me you could borrow my liquid extractor, its a small bore tube that goes down the dipstick holder and vacuums the oil out into its receiver.

piece of piss, push the hose to the bottom of the sump pan, put the hand pump into the reciever, give it about 20 pumps to get the vacuum going then leave it 10 minutes, come back to a receiver full of oil and empty engine. Cant see any downside really and I know alot of garages use them on newer cars (albeit more proffesional air operated versions) to save jacking up and removing sump plug and having to replace gasket and plug.

Arent ford sump plugs 1/2 inch and not 13mm, but everybody uses 13mm spanners because this is the 21st century?

And theres no such thing as a 'stuck' sump plug, you're just not strong enough :P

probably something to do with different types of metal , the plug prob expands more than the sump making it tighter in the threads

I think he meant it's better to drail hot oil than cold oil.

Not for removing the sump plug.
