In one instance that paragraph is correct (when the turbo is within the boost threshold) and in another it is incorrect (when turbo is out of the boost threshold).
Whilst I wouldn't go so far as to slate Stu (in such a manor as Mike did) over a simple lack of correct phrasing, I also wouldnt be shooting Mike down in flames either!!
Turbo lag, much like "wastegate chatter" is a common misunderstanding, both of which clearly frustrate Mike immensely!! Had Stu have added just 4 or so words he would have avoided creating yet anohter batch of lag 'confusoids'.

Anyway, I think it all got a bit out of hand and I dont think anything Mike said was intentionally malicious (everyone comes across slightly more confrontational online) and also it is clear Stu has not written anything that is incorrect, rather, he has written something that could be interpretted incorrectly! As Stu said, that is not his problem, but at the same time I can see quite clearly that it would have been good for Stu just to mention the boost threshold as it would stop Mike from having to correct the swarms of anti-lag'ers that will no doubt be expecting 20psi from 800rpm on there T3s

Thats how I've seen the whole thing anyway
Rich,
Thanks for the moral support - MUCH appreciated, as I was getting a right battering from all the "haters", er, I mean the Chip & Tony tag team .
Ballin I don't think that was mikes original point his original point was stu had written the article wrong after 7 pages Mike switched it to boost threshold after consulting with Tony Blaire

What points do you agree that SNP is right about? I can only see one and that's No. 1....

1. But this seems to be the major problem in the way you've come at this.

2. Even when its been explained numerous times your wrong,

3. your arrogant enough to shrug off the facts and come across as a smug cunt because of this.

4. You won't accept your wrong,

5. as you don't seem to have the mental capacity to understand it, and from your own reasoning this means you can't accept it.

Tony,
As both Lynne AND Chip have pointed out (your interpretation of air injector post), your observational capabilities seem severely lacking, so might I suggest you re-reading the entire thread and then you will note that it started on lag / boost threshold terminology and then moved on to ALS affecting boost threshold. However, I see that you prefer your own version of things, so perhaps just stick to these rather than the facts - I'm sure it will make you feel better in your VERY old age .

In the words of Forest Gump - Cunt is as cunt does .

- Glad to have been of service . The difference is that Chip, Stu and even that old fucker Tony and myself all know each other very well, so the arguements / banter are a foregone conclusion . You on the other hand should get out more .

Lunch was fabulous.... A bloody great chicken filled baton.

I see you lot didnt stop for any.

Please everyone dont forget my main simple point..
It was NOT a technical article, it was a PRODUCT FEATURE.

Maybe i should do a technical article on ALS. That would make interesting writing i suppose.

So now we have established that we really DO love each other - when can we see the full-on technical rendition of ALS / LC ? I promise not to make an arse of myself again - actually, scrap that - I can't make promises I have no way of keeping .

Its a good suggestion, but may well be a little too close to the feature the mag has allready run to complement the product launch.

Anyway, the last thing you need is an ALS feature as you seem to know all about it anyway. My input would be to tell you the best form of anti lag is to throw the turbochargers in the bin and fit a nice big V8.

Oooooooooooh, you ruined it by the hint of sarcasm in that last sentence - you know, the bit where you said about throwing my engine away .

Okay, how about cleaning this thread of the drivel, and making it a proper technical one?

i think stu can save himself the hassle of writing another 5000 word bit of stuff for the next issue and just cut and paste this thread into the mag

i do admit that this has ben an intresting topic to read about and the various angles people look at the whole matter of how to keep boost and the turbo spinning and the whole package that is available in regards to anti lag from the various suppliers and tuners who market the products

what i would like to know though is how much do you need to release to the public before you start to dish out secrets that you don't want other people to learn in this field?

obviously some people will be a bit co in regards to telling the rest of the world exactly how it's done because once its out there, i'll be every tom dick and harry building it with a soldering iron and a bag of bits from maplins

so how do you let people know what you are doing without giving the trade secrets away as to how you've achived it?

And I stand by what I said - you ARE . Also I didn't call "people" a cunt, I specifically mentioned names . Chip KNOWS he is - in fact I would be so bold to suggest that he ENJOYS it, and tries to make it into an actual art form .

You need those glasses again, as I responded to that post regarding the inertia spelling mistake - so I think I need to update my comment to: BLIND cunt .

Mike, do you think a smaller exhaust housing produces more exhaust energy?

      Rick,
I think a smaller turbine will have less rotational inertia for the exhaust gases to overcome.

The exhaust housing is sized to suit the turbines, or are you talking about using smaller/larger ones of the same family to create "hybrids" ?

If so, it starts to get complicated as what looks like it will / should provide higher turbine speeds doesn't . Sometimes going bigger on the exhaust wheel can actually reduce lag - it's all down to the complete design of the turbo and the matching of it to the spec of the engine.

The housing Mike, many turbo's are available with identical wheels, and different sized rear housings.
