you are saying your diesel (as in the low revving engiens that have wide gears) had a close ratio box?
all diesels have an ALS bypass fitted as standard, its called no throttle, lol

Dragged the thread down? It was already on it's arse to begin with. I wasn't spouting bollocks I was joking about the Diesel comment hence the LOL and
smilie.
And if I had of said nothing I wouldn't know what I now know which is close ratio and Short rev range are different.

Benni
deiseals only rev to 5k so they need to have an engine that is flexiable throughout the whole rev range and longer gears to keep up with the petrol engined counterparts which can rev to at least 20% higher, in some cases you'll get 9K out of a honda engine yet a fair amount of deisesels will run out of puff coming up to 4.5k
there is also the thing about variable van turbos but tha'ts touching on a subject that doesn't really relate to this topic, unless there are plans afoot to make a range of variable vane turbos' for cossie applications that will also run als/lc
the problem with variable vanes (apparently) is that you can't dissasemble them because they work in a complcated way
so, back on topic
