Was told the same on my 1.8T VAG motor when I was looking at using a noisy gay valve due to the plastic re-circ valve going pearshaped

Invented by saab as a noise surpressor in the 70's....

I think it depends what dumper it is. I personally like the one baileys do for the RS Turbos. Sounds good.

But for jap cars where there is a wide range, there are some proper shite sounding ones but some proper nice ones as well.

i agree with that, i like chatter, but most of my friends think it sounds stupid.

dump valves sound good, but only if you dont own the car, if its yours they just get on your nerves, chatters much easier to live with

i agree, if ford saw fit to put a dump on as standard recirculating or not you should use it! i had a msd dump on my s2 for years with no issues no problems, i think i read that you can damage the focus rs one if you dont use it! its simple if you don't like them and there factory fit keep it recirculating and if it ant got one on and you dont like them keep your mouth shut! my mitzy is oem factory recirculating and is no problem, for me the only gay people or those who constantly go on about dumps being gay.. its your choose

I don't see how ... What kind of dump valve? A recirculating or atmostpheric one?

he obvioulsy wants an atmospheric one.

Sneeze-tastic.

It damages the engine, something to do with the metered air IIRC

cant you use the forge recirc valve, i no they make these for the vag lump to,

also, theres a company that make a dump valve on ebay, that recircs some of the air (to stop the engine management light comming on on the vag lump) and sends some to the atmosphere, to give the ptschhhhhh

cheers for the sensible answers, put a bailey on it, it put warning lights on, traction control stopped working and engine warning light came on massive loss in power.
thanks anyway.

I can say from experience my S2 goes a lot better with the DV off.

Took a couple of seconds to hit full boost again after gear change with it on. With it off its just instant boost. And I don't sound like a twat with a punto gt.
