i have someone coming to look at the escort GTI that i am selling and now the temp gauge has decided to read in the red all the time , the engine is stone cold but the gauge is shooting up as soon as the ignition is put on , i have tried disconnecting the sender and its still doing it so its earthing somewhere

any ideas where the cables run ???

it'll run to the back of the dash, but that's not really helping is it

ignition on, wiggle some wires in the engine bay and go from there

alternativly you can always look for the engine loom mulitplug and disconnect it to see if this stops the problem, thus eliminating loads of hard work

i'm pretty suree one temp sensor goes to the gauge, and the other is a temp sensor that goes to the ecu. It does sound like you need the sender replacing. Scrapyard? They should be the same on any zetec engined ford??
