mondeo mk3 rear brake pads
hi guys and gals
Just a quick question - anyone know what allen key size you need to twist the rear pistons back in on a mk3 mondeo brake caliper? Would rather make sure i have all the tools before the car is in bits
Thanks
Rich

There not too bad. I recommend splitting the caliper in two as it will be much easier than trying to slide the whole unit off as one. If I remember correctly the offside pistons need to be pushed and turned clockwise and the nearside anti-clockwise...

well, as expected, this job is going to be a complete pain in the balls.
Needless to say, the Haynes book of lies is utter gibberish again. I just thought i'd go out and have a look between rain showers to see what i'm up against. Took the handbrake cable off one side, and it all looked pretty easy to do, so i thought i'll nip to halfords to get the pads/12mm allen socket.
Tried to put the cable back in, would it go back in? Would it fook.... I removed the C clip from the outer sheath, but i could not see how the cable comes away from the bracket. (haynes says it should just lift out) I took out one of the small allen boltsholding the bracket onto the caliper, tried to undo the other one, but it went really tight after a couple of turns, and didnt want to snap it! So after a lot of grunting and groaning, i admitted defeat, put it alll back together without a handbrake, and i'm of to get it booked in down the local garage
