Must admit, the customer service is crap but the availability and uptime is superb. No download limits and I never suffer slower than advertised speeds (unlike DSL).

Cheers

I was a ntl customer for 6 years, switched to dsl because of theyre constant billing fuck ups.

Just switched back because dsl is sooo slow, cable is just so consistently fast. Customer service is still utter bollucks though

Adam - I get limited service most of the time between 15:00 + 21:00 (New fuckin stupid idea from them )

If you download over 3gb per day they limit your download rate to 1meg It says 'unlimited broadband' but it restricts your speed... They are sneaky fuckers!

For a person like me who hammers newsgroups lots i've become kinda stuck!

I haven't downloaded anything today and i've just done a speed test...
I supposed to be on 20ish Meg but never see anything over about 15ish...

Being on 15ish Meg does have it's advantages but when u hit that magic download amount the rate sinks to the oceans floor!

I get a constant 19.2mb whatever time of day.

CS is shit as said above.

smit

Not heard about this 15 - 21 capping that you say, maybe you are in the top 5% downloaders lol

I also thought they dropped it down to 5mb for 4 hours, not down to 1mb.

Smit, they call it 'traffic management'

During peak times, the top 5% on the Size: XL package download at least 3GB of traffic each.

Any users hitting this amount during peak times (4pm till midnight) will have their broadband speed temporarily traffic managed – their download speed will be set to 5Mb, with their upload speed set to 256Kb. This will last for 4 hours from when the traffic management policy is applied.

Even if a Broadband Size: XL user has their speed temporarily traffic managed, they can still download over 4,000 music files per day.
Most ISP's have a fair use policy, which incorporates similar measures if you read the small print.

There is also an ongoing speed issue for the XL service (although it's affecting me too on L) Info on the service status area of the customer zone.
