FAO people with alcon 6 paddle clutches
hi did any of you do x amount of miles to bed the clutch in before you gave it stick if so how many

No....Stick with the Alcon......
In my 428bhp Cossie I just drove it normally for about the first fifty miles, then it took the power without any problems.
AP is too much All or Nothing.
Which Pressure Plate are you using ????

using alcon cover too. the cars only 300 bhp but i fitted it tonight and on track at combe tommorow.
only left it this late as was told standard would be ok but it wasn't my box has been out 3 times this week
was going to take it easy for first couple of sessions before i start giving it stick

Alcon are fine......believe me, I've used them more than once, and if it can handle 428bhp it'll handle your power without any problem at all.
The drive to combe will be enough to bed it in........no problem.

Ha Ha.....that's what you got in there, and on a 4 x 4 pressure plate. And that recomendation came from more than one person who's got more experience of them than most.

Don't forget Stu H has an RS turbo and for this car the Alcon is a very poor clutch. For RS Turbos only use genuine AP clutchs.
For Cossie's, Alcon 6 paddle plates are good, but I use them with either std Cossie AP cover, or heavy AP cover for more powerfull circumstances.
Pete/Jim, your saph will be fine with what's in it with the GT30 conversion.
As a side note using an AP paddle plate is also fine, but do tend to be a bit "all or nothing" as Jim has mentioned and hence are a bit harsh for normal road use.

Will do around 440bhp on T38 with larger injectors, expecting around 500bhp with the GT30!
However don't forget pete, you need to get yourself a L8 ecu before we change as it's still on the original L6 ecu, which are fine on 403 greys, but not as good with 1000cc injectors as the L8 is.

Funnily enough Jim, whenever anyone mentions your car, I always refer to it as Jim's car and always will!

I can map the car with whatever characteristic you prefer. Generally speaking, to maximise midrange torque and preserve the turbo at high rpm, when running a T3 and greens, I run a midrange boost of around 25psi, before backing the boost off to around 18psi at the limiter.
On a T34 and greens again the same applies, but usally around 28psi midrange backing off to around 21psi at the limiter. Of course you can have a flat boost curve of around 21 psi if you prefer.
For your info, the boost is controlled by accurate mapping of the amal valve. No matter what you go for all cars will drive superb and be super smooth, compared to a std chip etc.

i kept taking my car back to karl and getting my midrange boost wound up on my poor little t3. Was still going strong though till i changed it for a T34
