can you remove a FRST lump without removing the gearbox

Default can you remove a FRST lump without removing the gearbox

im swapping an engine for a mate while he is away, its on his fiesta rs turbo, but i forgot the bastard has ABS

so can i remove the engine with the box in situ? do i have to remove the alternator pully for clearance etc i just realy dont wanna fook about with the abs

any tips/info welcome

take off the alternator pulley

lye down while car is on teh florr still and crack it off

undo all teh shit you need to do, pipes,exhaust,wiring,etc

undo gearbox bolts from engine

put hoist on engine, undo engine mount and take off

lift engine up

Take the bonnet off completely as well as it gives you a bit more room to move about in and see what's what.

My bro and I removed his engine and box a few weeks back. Can't tell you about getting it back in as we're not that far in yet

take the rad out aswell as you dont want the engine to swing into it

you may need to jack the box up slightly if the engine becomes stuck

should be able to do it in less than a day mate

i tok the box out with mine and was really easy but then mine didn't have abs but i don't know how that affects it

abs is just a headache to unbolt, then you gotta pop out the safts, drain oil blah blah blah etc so would rather leave the box in

i normally take the crank pulley off too for that bit extra room done them all like this even removed a zetec lump like this

ive done it in a mk 4 escort there a bastaed to get lined up and back in though

ooops forgot to mention doesnt the driver side abs unit bolt to the block so you might still have to remove the drivers side drive shaft and abs unit

usually takes a good 30mins to get it back in unless u have a lucky pop
