Taken from another site:
Incident was caused by a Porsche dropping coolant on the track. The driver stopped just down the road from where the bikes went down as soon as he realised he had a problem, but it was too late for them...
General advice on 'ring sites is:
Make extra sure your cars are not leaking fluid after every lap or so, report any that are to the office, and if you are unfortunate enough to have unexpected problems on the track, stop in a safe place ASAP before running back to flag the Hazard if possible...
The people involved were simon mulley, and friends.. all guests of ours
Chris Wood was killed instantly , simon has suffered a broken ankle and just come out of operating theatre with 4 pins in it, and Paul has a suspected fracture of the lower spine and will be taken to Bad neunahrweiler tomorrow for a cat scan to assess the damge more...
Not a good night here at sliders.. I have jsut got back from the Hospital
Our thoughts go out to Chris's family.. and best wishes for those still in hospital..

Yes, this is THAT Chris Woods, it happened on Wednesday
. He was also responsible for setting up both my Sapphire and my Escort. I didn't really feel like posting about it yesterday, as it was a bit of a shock and it is taking a while to sink in.
Not only was he a nice bloke, but he was a surpemely skilled engineer and he will be sorely missed in the rallying world by everyone who knows him.
His son is 16 on Monday as well
.
He was a devoted biker and thrill-seeker and visited the Ring regularly and always gave everything he did maximum attack and focus. His friend who went with him (who is okay) is bringing the bikes back in the van today - alone. That will be one HORRIBLE journey.
My thoughts go out to all his friends and family and the ONLY consolation is that at least he died doing something he loved.
As Martin said when we chatted about it last night, it makes you think about the consequences of the dangerous hobbies that we are all involved in, but the funny thing is that while on track, you never worry

Hi Nuts, MR and all, very sad indeed, I raced against Chris all over the country, he was always fast, fair and friendly, the sort of bloke we all liked a lot.
