Default computer graphics card question...

Hey guys. what differences are there between AGP and PCI (apart from the obvious of using a different slot )

is one better than the other??

I currently have a GEFORCE FX 5500 256mb AGP and i saw one in pc world quite cheap. it is a GEFORCE 7300GS 256MB PCI. would I be better with mine or is this one better. Thanks

PCI is better because it works faster than AGP, you would have to get a mobo that has an PCI-express slot

Nope, PCI and PCI Express are two different slots, PCI is very old, older than AGP infact, and PCI-Express is the newest connection for graphics card.

So if its PCI and AGP that you have then the best card you can get are AGP ones
How much have you got to spend on one and ill show you the best one

its not how much i got to be honest. I was looking around £50 quid mark. only getting one for the sake of it really. The one i got is good enough for what i use it for. Haven't got a very hi spec. Just play simulation games really. 1.6 AMD

any recomendations

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119716

Few quid over but you will be blown away compared to what you have now and you wont ever need another card unless you catch the bug and keep upgrading

P.s Ebuyer is a great site to buy from, ive had a few things off them with next day delivery

well it will be a bit pointless spending money if its for the sake of it as generally your cpu and memory will probably be limiting your gaming more than your graphics card as your spec isnt very high like you said.

but for £50 any of these 3

just copy paste

ATI ewwww! lower spec ATI cards have the tendency to have loud coolers on them, i had a x1300 pro a year or so ago and it was abit like a hair dryer sound every time you start a game
You wont get any better than a 7600GS 256mb for £53

some of them do some of them don't have loud coolers. My mates is very similar to the 512 one almost identical and thats fairly quiet. But for AGP you cant really get much better than those. If you can find a 7600GS then go for it. But a 7300GT or ATi X1550 512 should suffice plenty
