Default FAO Bonsai Tree keepers...........

After a mate of mine bought one into work, I think they look awesome and would like one to "nurture"

Wheres best place to look, what to look out for, and also maintenance etc?

Also how big do they grow, are they OK to repot when getting bigger, and how and when do you prune them?

Went to the massive Webbs garden centre not so long back, and they only had cacky ones for about a tenner, been looking on the net and would like something like this

So if anyone has any, get some pics up, and some info how to look after them!!

That's a cool looking tree! They are pretty expensive to buy one ready shaped though. Something like that I would expect would cost you in excess of £80.

I grew mine from a cutting off a tree in my parents conservatory, and although it is coming along now, it isn't in the same league as the one above.
Best bet if you are really interested is get yourself down to a big garden centre and buy yourself a book and have a read. You can then decide if you want to grow from seeds, cuttings, or go the easy option and buy a ready grown tree.
The bonus of growing them yourself though, is that you can shape them to look exactly how you want them

I'll get some pics of mine tonight (if I remember )

The shop in Bluewater has some really cool trees, but they are far too expensive for my liking.

How did you manage to kill it Lee? All you have to do is water it a few times a week?!

are they like bonsai trees, but with a death wish?

a mate of mine had one once and killed it pretty quickly - think he went on holiday for a week or something and didn't get anyone to water it. i think they're a bit fussy, but read up a bit and you should be ok

They can be pretty fussy, but it does depend on the chosen tree. Mine is a Money tree and can cope for long periods without water. I dumped a load of water in, went on holiday for a week, came back dumped a load more water in and it's fine

But as said, get yourself a book and have a read, then you can choose a tree to suit your lifestyle!
