looks like a peice of shit to me.

Its style over function and I doubt it will take off... think about the laptop/tablet pc's that we were all supposed to be using for everything by now and the electronic news paper... all these hailed developments failed to create the market they were designed to.

It's a PR toy with no real impact or use in the near future I would have thought. Typical MS bloatware

Probably some truth to that,

i BET it wont work like they have shown. All touch screen Tablet's ive ever used, are totally useless, and you end up having to drag the item about 3 times before it moves to the right place!

Good point.

I was talking to JJ after i suggested my ideal laptop would be a cross between a touchpad/mouse and then physically being able to tocuh the screen aka a smart phone of portable sat nav.

This is my ideal system, only on speed!!

Bring it on, let the early adopters iron out all the bugs and then i will come rollin in.

Looks awesome and as for it not being affordable, I remember people saying that about PC's 10 years ago. And now look at all the plebs that have them....

I love the way in the first vid they try to make out like using your PC will be a social thing!

We all know it'll just be people like me sitting on the sofa when the missus is out, knocking one out to youporn

There was a video microsoft released a year or so ago that showed the working prototype of this used in a presentation by Bill Gates.

I'm sure it was posted on here around about the time the specs of the PS3 were released?

As for Microsoft videos, you cant get much better than this one

http://video.google.co.uk/url?docid=...6CmhSg_Ge02wpQ

He blamed it on the echo and background noise, which makes no sense. So all these people they think will be using voice recognition are going to be sat in deathly silent offices are they? don't think so

That's exactly what it is.....

Multi touch, external object (camera etc) interaction and the controlling software however make it a world apart. Give it 10 years or so "surface" could everywhere and a large part of everyone's everyday life....fair play to Microsoft - while apple were pissing around with a click wheel they were pissing around with something much bigger....!

Ok.. So you put a cup of coffee onto the table! And it knows what it is...

Say your banging your missus on the sofa, you change position and she goes on her knees , but - It flies straight pass her and misses her face

...Will it know what that is???
