Default Track Cars

Gents,

What's the score with owning/ operating a car purely for track use?

I take it that if it's being trailered to and from events then it has no need to be insured for road use ??? once at the track do you need any form of tax or insurance ???

Also, can you book track sessions whenever you want or do you generally have to attend an event and book track time.

Apologies for sounding daft but I fancy getting a purely track use car but know nothing about operating them.

Cheers
Paul

You either come to an amicable resolution with the old readies, or do a runner when they turn their back

in track accidents, all accidents you are involved in, are classed as your fault no matter where the damages is, or who hit who...

isnt it ?

There is no requirement for either tax or insurance if the car is used purely off road. In all the track events I have done over the last 7 years I have never even been asked to produce or prove either.

Track insurance can be bought seperatly if you feel you need it. This usually won't cover damage to your car and in most cases the excess is around £1000. If your sensible you will never get yourself into a situation on track where you are likely to hit someone else (or be hit by someone) so in my view its pointless.

i thought you normally signed a disclaimer saying that its at your own risk.so if you get hit or hit someone else hits you then tough shit

" I thought..... " ??

So youv'e signed one without reading it then have you

Not exactly tough shit, but you won't get any help from the organisers, venue owners or other participants on the day as you will have signed away your rights to do that. That includes personal injury as well as mechanical

well i did read the one i signed but that was for a 1/4 mile only and i did waive the rights to any claim if i was hit.also nearly every motorsport venue ive been too has a sign at the gate telling you that motorsport is dangerous and you enter at own risk and organisers have no responsiblilty over you. is that not the case at all

Yep that is the case unfortunatly But the claim is against the organisers / promoters not necessarily the other 3rd party. That sign you refer to is a mandatory one which HAS to be displayed in any publically accessible place where a sanctioned motorsport event is taking place and the general public is permitted acess to enter.

You can tell I have been on tooooooo many safety courses in the sport

How did you get on on the 1/4 then ? Hope it was good

poor farmer

It will give you a big buzz tho - driving it out on track

There is something on somewhere nearly every day of the week now, its become such a big money game. Jumping in and taking the plunge is just the hardest decision you'll have to make of it all though. The rest you will just love. But watch out it gets addictive
