only complete pussys and people who have never tried a car with one seem to say its bad.

ive driven god knows how many cars with them, hell, i currently own 3 cars with them, they fine.

slightly more understeer, shuffling juddering when turning tightly at 5mph or less, and thats all.

the same sorta bad stuff you get with a proper plated race diff, just without the nasty noises as it locks n unlocks etc...

Id not say its dangerous mate, if anything less so as its initially harder to lose traction as its much more grippy and a little more understeery.

If you TRYING to get a car sideways id say its much more controllable than an open diff, much more.
Partly as you got power to both wheels without making a huge effort to do so, and also because with an open diff you can easy smash as one wheel can suddenly grip mid slide, punting you off in the direction your wheels are pointing, ie oppo lock, ie the outside of the bend.
Ive had offs for this reason more then once.
With a welder that doesnt happen, both wheels may grip, but not as suddenly as just one will with open gay diffs.

If you that spaccafied you suddenly crash as you got a welder, you deserve to

He will be fine.

Does welding the make them any stronger? As in a standard 2wd diff asking to cope with 400 bhp. Would welding whatver it is that gets welded help prevent failure?

absolutely, but depends on diff type.

the small gears inside are what normally break on cossie rear diffs, and these get welded together and plated over making in effect a solid centre with the only points left to break being the crownwheel or pinion
