Id not say its dangerous mate, if anything less so as its initially harder to lose traction as its much more grippy and a little more understeery.
If you TRYING to get a car sideways id say its much more controllable than an open diff, much more.
Partly as you got power to both wheels without making a huge effort to do so, and also because with an open diff you can easy smash as one wheel can suddenly grip mid slide, punting you off in the direction your wheels are pointing, ie oppo lock, ie the outside of the bend.
Ive had offs for this reason more then once.
With a welder that doesnt happen, both wheels may grip, but not as suddenly as just one will with open gay diffs.
