Default fitting longer wheel studs...

fitted up the cossie hubs etc to the 3dr yesterday, and then smashed out the wheel studs to put the longer ones in...

i thought i could just wind a wheel nut on against the hub and it would pull it in...

well, not quite

they go so far in... then wont go in any further lol

so how you get em in?

is a hub off job and a press?

I allways put a few washers over the threads and like you said, nut on and tighten it up, pulling it through.

Never taken a hub off to do it

use a spacer
use a steel nut as well as you can reverse it as the flat end will do much more even job of pulling and locking the knurled bit of the stud into place

cheers boys, ill try it with washers when im down the lockup next.

gareth, cant really get a mallet onto them, the only gap is between the lugs of the brake calliper, and you cant get a flat hit on the stud, only the edge

sod putting washer in then
put the studs in as far as you can go
the bit at the end you can't get tightened enough you just put the brake dics on and use that

ive used the washers to spread the load, and pull it through nicely.

note : im not talking about using washers behind the hub, just to spread the load , they are removed once the studs 100% home.

are you doing it the way in the diagram shows?
if so, you just use the disc instead of the washers

do the new studs have the RIGHT amount of splines for the hub? IF so they should just pull tight with ease!

Some studs have a very slight angle to the splines so make sure they are lined up ie spline in between spline etc, had this recently on a honda(yank), though he was quoted two hours labour to remove hub etc, did it in 5 minutes no hub off!!

they can be pulled out with just as much ease then

they need to go in tight as fuck as they stop the wheel nuts from spinning when you try to undo them
if they are the wrong ones you are fucked come this time if this happens

did you get them from speedshack? he sells them for the sierra and they slot right into place

(other suppliers do exsit)
