That dont make ANY sense, as they only list 2 types of YB head gasket on the "heritage shop" on-line.

YB-1261
YB-0611 (group A)
BOTH types are the SAME thickness - I've just checked with a digital vernier:

He said to you: "you want YB0261, the group A one" .....there's no such gasket

Yeah thats the number he said Doug ,youre right, but he definately said its a thinner one then there alleged Grp A one,why would someone from Cosworth say that?

for a stg1 not really worth it is it?

i'll stick with the cheapest i can get - there's usually a reason to take the head off before the gasket fails anyway with these bloody things

No, they are NOT the same...............In a few mins I will take some pics of both types, side-by-side for a definitive comparison.

Cheers Doug. Could I fit a T25 gasket on my 2WD saff? Would there be any benefit?

Yes, I reckon the late Es Cos gasket is better, but no benefit fitting it for the sake of it i.e. if your engine is OK now, best to leave it as it is.

See the pics and compare the gaskets: Group A versus Late Es Cos types.........
BTW both gaskets are 1.28mm thick.
