Do I need a setup when putting on a bigger Intercooler
Talking to a mate today and he suggested taking the car to be setup due to fitting a bigger Intercooler. Is this needed when not upping the boost etc?

im guess here but, it will be flowing cooler more dense air meaning now the fuel/air mixture will be out as it is now getting more air
that is why you need a setup

surely the ecu will reconised the air is denser and add more fuel, just like if you took the car out on a cold night, the air would be denser than on a warm sunny day, and it will add more fuel automatically.

just a thought here... but if you fit a larger IC... then there is more room of the air to cool down and a slower flow of air through... wouldnt that mean less boost/pressure withing the inlet? probably not too significant, but would like to know either way... sorry for the thread jack...
in answer to your question... i havent heard of many people getting their engine set up after just changing the IC... so i wouldnt think so...

It will flow the same air speed, if it it did not it would pressurise and go bang and the air was slower coming out than going in!!
The temp change will not be anything that the ECU wil not be able to cope with, not as much as the DIFFERENCE between a snowy winters day and a blazing hot summer day, thank god for AIR TEMP SENDERS!!

Karl/NMS set my car up and mapped it with what was on the car, but mentioned about the S2 front bumper MASSIVELY restricting air flow.
He said to go ahead and mod the bumper, and no alterations to the map at this stage would be necessary.
Im guessing a remap would be needed if going from say a standard cooler to a large front mount...
