Default just fitted an airbox..........update

............AND..!!!!!!!........took my group A cone off and butchered an escort airbox............physicaly cant tell...a.c.t's aren't different, but the car is holding less boost.....which could mean the box is doing a better job??????...........anyway i like the high pitched chatter better, but i do miss the induction noise of a K n N cone..........next time i go to a R/R day i will take both.............

its holding less boost because the airbox is providing better/colder air flow....so the chip is telling the car to use less boost,so the air/fuel ratio is correct............

no war path rich - just facts....thats why you cossie guys buy aftermarket rear beams and make the rear suspension like nails to prevent the squat, to keep things nice and straight.

You cant buy an aftermarket rear beam setup for an Evo because it doesnt need it. The squat may look cool/fast/powerful but it makes the handling very odd....and as for what happens when the diff hits the floor is anyones guess!? It must be havoc with the weight transfer.

As I say mate - no war path, I love cossies but that squat isnt anything to be proud of. As we all know - evos have other issues!

Hope you are well, aint seen you in a while?

My diff doesnt hit the floor when i launch like that

Im not overly proud of it either, its what they do everyone no`s it, im not into track days yet so until then i`ll setting for it squating like that, my new coilovers should help a bit as the car was to low to begin with

People have different opinions but i must admit i love the look of it even if i am loosing ???bhp through grip

Each to there own

agreed. ofcourse it has negative effects on performance when squatting but i still love the way cossies squat and fish tale in a stright line. im no track person either and i quite enjoy the way its difficult to controll on a launch each to their own indeed!

over the weekend i've been swopping between the two................and i went to book a power run at the local R/R at the cost of Ł45.....i asked if it would be alright to swop my box & cone filter to see if it made a difference...........they said yes but would charge me Ł60+vat...........i didn't bother (2 min job...fuck em).........any way after a day of messing about i think.....THINK...the airbox has the edge....i didn't take much notice of my act temps (cos i had my foot down),but the box feels smoother and seems to pull better (especially from slow speeds)....till i can get it on the R/R and prove either way i'll be keeping the airbox on............. ..........now i'm making a cold feed to the box....think one of the foglights is coming out.............

LOL at this

His charge temps are the same as before according to the 1st post, his seems to now be holding less boost, there is NO way a big cone filter is more restrictive than an airbox, and you think he will have more power (on the ROAD) now?

On the ROLLERS i bet you see a decent increase in power, but testing a cone filter etc on the rollers is about the most unrealistic test ever.
