Help! my Laptop is funked
Battery ran out on my laptop and just switched off instead of going in to sleep mode like usual.
Plugged in the charger turned it on and I get a menu saying windows did not start properly do you want to start in:-
Safe mode
Safe mode with dos prompt
Safe mode with networking
most recent start up option
or start windows normally
prob is every option takes me to a blue screen then resets
What do I do? is the hard drive proper fucked?
I found a sub menu by pressing F8 but none of those option workeither (debugging mode, repair mode etc)
Blue screen says UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
Please help

If its Windows XP you just need to boot it with the installtion CD and choose the repair option. Keep the Administrator password at hand as you will need to enter this in order to start the repair.

its usually caused by a NTFS file system which damaged and cannot be mounted.
Laptops suffer from this more than desktops due to the impact 'sleeping' has on the filesystem, regular disk defragmentation should help minimise this
Quick Resolution
Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer.
When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.
At the command prompt, type chkdsk /r , and then press ENTER.
