Default map sensor question

Are 2 & 3 bar map sensors 0 to 5 volt devices ??
As i would like to 'T' into it for data logging along with AFR and RPM if it is.

cheers

they are 5 volt sensors

but do you really want to tap into the ecus sensor? are you sure your logging device got a very high input impedance to to disturb the signal?

hmm not sure, what was the question (i'm no electrician).
I would have just T'd into to it (1 wire) right up close to the multi plug on the sensor. Would there be a better place i can get this signal with potentially less distrubance issues.
b.t.w i'm using a Dynojet Wide Band Commander unit.

the best way is to use a seperate map sensor

its not where you tee in,, its about how/if the commander unit will disturb the output signal from the sensor,,, if the commander has to low of reistnace on its input device it WILL alter the signal

An SECS monitor works this way, so its fine in principal, but like Gareth says the problem is the resistance of the device you are using.

If its low resistance it will cause a voltage drop, which will make it look like less boost to the ECU

Thanks Gareth
i'll check that the unit has a High Input Impedance (as this is GOOD).

It should be OK as the instalation instructions and fitting are all geared around tapping into the sensors (which ever you choose) by the multiplugs.
As i have 2 more inputs free (over and above the AFR and RPM), which i'd like to utilise for MAP and TPS.

cheers

im sure it has got some sort of voltage follower on its inputs,,, but its best to check first

If you've go a decent voltmeter you could check...

Take a measurement from the MAP output with engine not running, and with your logger not connected. Then connect the logger and see if it changes.

A bit of a bodge, but will give you a bit more confidence to go ahead.
