Default any tuners help with my non ford

hi,need help on my mini turbo as its running a bit rough no hi tech stuff here but i need to set ignition timing until i can get it to a rolling road set up....thing is,when i set it to metro turbo factory settings it doesnt run well which is probaly due to it being highly modified...my question is...can i advance it until i get pinking and then turn back a few degrees until it stops or is this not a good idea on a just run in engine?

regards mark

Thats generally fine Mark, take her to pinking and then back around 4 degrees but be aware that your running problems may well be fuel related or other external influences so act with caution... (EG: Cam timing / air leaks etc)

cheers stu...the cam timing is set at the spec for my stage 2 turbo cam......spark plugs look right colour but as i said its just run in so no hard runs yet...i moved the timing a little more advanced last night and it run a lot better so will do as you say above.....i remember when i was younger a long time ago and didnt have a timing light,we used to set our cars timing up by advancing the dizzy until the revs stopped rising and then turn it back a small amount...high tech stuff it was
