So what car could you replace a cosworth with then?

RX7 is a fun car - but dont fancy that the rebuild of the tips every few years - esp when one starts tuning them!
Evorich - Interesting feedback about the EVO, I have heard similar critisisms of the EVO. So what happens if you cross the line with the EVO? If you push too hard through a bend does it throw its toys out of the pram bigstyle?

All on a buget, and preferably with the possibility of future tuning for when I get bored (and I will!)
Not a lot really

Rear beam, proper suspension, quality tyres, proper brakes and a 350bhp engine would wipe the floor around the Ring with a normal E46 M3....

i recently bought a focus rs and have been impressed with it, after owning a few 300- 350 bhp cossies and a variaty of other cars i thought it might be one i sold on after a couple of months, it handles really well out of the box and stops, with the right mods goes really well , it has impressed a few people who really underated it- one of them owns a e36 m3 evo, all it had done is a decat. not even considered selling it yet as still having fun and no hassel so far,

Mkiv supra turbo good trackcars when setup right whit proper suspension and brakes not only good for dragracing only.
Chevrolet corvette z06 both the c5 and c6 version can you say porsche killer.
Audi s4/rs5 old model (turbo versionl no the new version na version.
Whit decent engine suspension brakes mods will be awesome weapon on road and track.
Nissan r32 gtr and r34 gtr don't need to say more.

Jim - great minds think alike! I love my M5 - it is the daily runner!
Mike Rainbird - I am coming round to the idea of keeping the little Cos a while longer - I think you are correct - maybe time to consolidate and make strong again. If I had my time again and budget, then I would prob go in a different direction, but with the lion portion of the costs behind me, I guess it may be fun to make it a proper M3 killer! Once Stu has worked his magic with the power plant - back to suspension methinks!
I like the idea of the Corvette - but I reckon mega bucks for one of those!

A z06 corvette can be tuned to kill anything on track.
I diffrent forum i am member off has c5 zo6 corvette as his project car.
And whit couple of tweaks will see you well over 400 whp just by playing whit cams headers and a decent exhaust.

Any thoughts?

ITs funny, Jim cos I have never ever heard anything bad about the Cranks in my experience of the M5 boards and ownership - was this news to you as well?
Now if he had mentioned the VANOS.........

Westfield Megabusa (Susuki 1300 Hyabusa engine). After driving a friends on a track day, i would say it is the fastest and most enjoyable toy car you could get for under £20k.

Personally if it was me, i would probably buy one of the yank kits available, and then build from there.

It depends. In my case right hand side of the Evo made contact with the armco
They are very stable especially new models with active diffs can go well over the grip limit still maintaning some stability, but when you ovedo it big time there is no escaping. In my case slick tyre + water puddle and I was done :-/
