Markk...i agree the Collins diagnostic moniter may not be as bling but is VERY informative and practical.....does this one require hacking the loom likethe last moniter?
But i can see this appealing to many people, bright lights,Pacman etc etc... Does it also have a feature to control neons?
*Joke*

I can assure you all that it is very functional and the user can choose to add
all the blingy animations or not.
All screens can be defined and set up by the user using scalable fonts and
graphics functions so you can choose a free mixture of this to make
it functional and/or just for looks.
Phil, As for hacking the loom, Those cars that do NOT have pectel compatable
software will still have to attach extra wires into the loom
but as per other monitors, if compatable will just plug in to the diagnostic
socket and work.
The eec4, eec5 and obd versions will also just plug in and work .
Billabong, I did not know that was your picture. It is cool as fook !
If you could introduce me to that nice young lady I would gladly give
you a colour touch screen version FOC :

markk, Ima-Racing500,
Yawn, the same old people putting me down as usual.
If I didnt know better I would think you were one and the same person with
different user names.
Since you both are comparing this new device with the collins product,
The new SECS monitor is smaller, cheaper, has more functonality such
as data logging and works with more cars and variants such as EEC4, EEC5
and also other makes such as Jap/german cars.
But then it doesnt matter how good it is, I will never be good enough for some

Simon,
The video doesnt show me a great deal but the fact it datalogs is enough to make me say right now...
"Please send me the first available unit and bill my card"
I will review it in a pro environment for you.
1) If it does'nt break with me using it, its not going to break.
2) If its got enough data for me, its got enough for anyone.
Lets be havin one....

so for erst's are you supplied a plug with wires on that you'd solder into the loom so the screen would plug into this as i wouldnt want to cut the wires on the screen just incase i upgrade to secs s8 in the future (if this makes sense?)just wondering how it'd be fitted as the ke system isnt the most technologically advanced invention about
cheers kris

kris,
This would come with a loom that solders on to the back on the
pins in the ecu loom plugs so no wire will need to be cut
The KE Jetronic system even though it is mechanical does have
some sensors for monitoring plus there is a seperate ignition ECU.
Depending on the age of vehicle the sensors/values available should be....
FUEL ECU
Coolant temperature
Air flow sensor position
Fuel actuator output demand
Throttle position switch 1 and 2 status (these are microswitches not a potentiometer)
IGNITION ECU
Coolant temperature
Charge air temperature
Battery voltage
AMAL valve duty cycle
Engine RPM
Ignition timing (not including any mechanical adjustment made on the dizzi)
As for boost pressure, If you are prepared to open the ignion ecu and
solder a wire inside this can measured up to the ecu's sensor limit
otherwise a seperate external map sensor can be added for this.
The knock sensor as fitted on later cars will NOT be included as it is a crap sensor!
Hope this helps

SPADGE,
It was designed to be VERY flexible but just like you I dont like the bling bits and pieces but
I am afraid 99% of people do like this cosmetic stuff and it will help to sell it.
I must admit that I did have fun when programminmg those bits !
There is even a hidden game on it !
I am saving up for my RS200 you know

Stu, not every one would like the price of a T in loom as all the connectors
are expensive plus all the addition wiring that I must do will add extra cost.
But I see your point for the PRO users who would use it for fault diagnosis.
I dont have those connectors in stock at the moment. I will see what I can find.
