look in the yellow pages for chubb or nuswift, my old man used to work for them just driving round flogging, checking and recharging fire extinguishers!

FIRE station!!!
They do not and are not allowed to do this, they are not certified.
Their job which they doi very well is to put fires out using them.
The refill/recharge depends on what type it is, ie STORED PRESSURE, or not if not you can replace the PRESSURE CANNISTER inside, which is normally the same as a CO2 capsule, from wine merchants etc.
Personally I would leave it to a proper person for the cost is not a lot either, but depending on type/size it may well be cheaper to get a new one.
If it is an older one like BROMOCHLORADIEFLEUROMETHANE, THEN YOU WILL not BE ABLE TO TO GET IT REFILLED AS IT IS NOW banned APRT FROM military AND A FEW OTHERS.

I meant Fire Station on an RAF base, that was where my mate had it done! We're both in the forces

If you are talking RAF then you may well be using BCF which is illegal to have as civillian, or to use outside base due to ozone effects.
UK FIRE make a lot of RAF fire ex's, I have done a short contract welding up the trolley ones, donkeys years ago though.
