ive literally just done our kkitchen, ok still need to get worktops fitted and tiled...

but id say it depends on where you buy the units from!

ours had an old MFI lot in there, we got the new ones from Wicks, to find that the wall units were not as tall, or as deep as the MFI stuf... of course only knew after i started lol

anyhow, when you take off the old lot, you will be able to see where they were, so if the same size units, hang em in the same place, if not - like me, i fitted to the middle of where they were before lol

good luck tho, my kitchen was a RIGHT pain in the ass! (odd size...)

i always go between 350mm and 400mm of worktop(depends on style)
steam issues off the hob and kettle will damage the cupboards in time

we bought it at xmas in the 1/2 price sale

and i fitted it myself with a little advice from a mate.

only thing i wont do is cut the joins on the work tops, a mates doing that for us (hes a joiner lol)

plus our parents gave us some money towards it at xmas to buy it, instead of prezzies for us lol

ps mine is 450mm above the worktops as they were 100mm shorter than the old ones (so in the middle of the old units they have 50mm top and bottom)

i would go up to ceiling height myself as i hate the wasted space above cupboards and am not a short arse. gives more light to the work surface as well
