Default Cutting -10 Quip????

Hi,
Has anyone got any particular tips on the best method of cutting larger quip hose?
I've cut -4, -6 and -8 fine with a grinder, and a cutting wheel, but it doesn't want to touch -10 without making it look like a shonkey shitty mess!

I'm guessing I'll be best of hiring a cut off saw to make the cuts, unless anyone has got any other ideas? - A fine tooth hacksaw seems to want to chew the quip up too

Cheers for the help.

Rich

Tape it up tight, and an angle grinder, hacksaw etc should go through no probs.

Ritey then, i'll have another go tonight then....
I've been trying to cut the -10 in exactly the same way as per all of the smaller sizes though - basically tape around the quip with masking tape twice, and then straight through with a metal cutting disc in a grinder..
Is there another type of cutting disc that is preferable when cutting quip rather than just a normal metal cutting disc?
Also, when using a hacksaw I'd have though that 24 TPI would be fine enough - or is it not?

Its not the actual cutting thats the problem, it preventing the bloody stuff flaring out so much that you can't get the female part of the quip fittings over the end!

Cheers

you can get the really thin cutting dics only a couple of mm thick. They may be better?

We use insulation tape and a fine toothed hack saw...never had a problem......the disc cutting blades mentioned, that are very thin are for use with stainless steel and only about 2 - 3 mm thick......

I put masking tape around the end where you want to cut, clamp the hose in the vice and use one of those very thin cutting discs on the angle grinder

I wrap the hose in tape then use a hammer and sharp chisel to cut it, normally have to hit it 3/4 times - works very well.

use the angle grinder and thin cutting disc, but go round the hose 7 times very tightly.when cut unwind the tape till only 2 left,if it still wont fit use a jubilee clip to compress the end of the hose.ive done -16 this way and it works very well

Well - update time

Went to halfords and Band Q and they didn't have any dremel tools or thin grinder discs that were suitable....
So..... Of we came home, and thought i'd give it one more go...
Wrapped the quip up what seemed like 6 or 7 times, and cut through it a quater at a time with the grinder... - much neater, and it just about fitted into the fitting - was then a case of westling with the male part of the fitting to get it to match up - but it did, and its now assembled!

As for the below - I didn't think of using a jubilie clip to compress it slightly, but will do on the next one I do - I think it will make life a fair bit eaiser! - cheers for the tip!
