Hope this is not one of the last pics we get of it

Here is one of Skyline too... hope your engine is in better shape than my front splitter!

By the way.... at least you have gone out in Style.... This is taken from Migweb

2400motorsport cosworth that one was, the driver of that session was a TIT.

I hope not too!

When it works, the car is a weapon - hopefully when numpty sees that pic he'll get some motivation back for it! I went round to see him yesterday and started to take a few bits off the car.... hopefully this evening when the cylinder head is off the damage wont be too bad!

Just read the post on MigWeb

There is nothing more annoying than a rude track driver and everyone who passed me got the left indicator. Apart from the clue saph coss driver who decided my left indicator was a indication to pass on the left YOU TIT.
Yeah I got undertaken by the blue sapphire cosworth as i was making my move to the left side of the track to let him pass, I do not care how fast or how much faster you are than me obey the rules like i do and everyone will get on fine.

Looks like it was Phil and not Si

It was Phill, and we just had a review of his track footage and can't work out who the Mig Poster is yet. Despite some not ideal moves, Phill didn't overtake anyone on the left who was either indicating left or moving left.

Anyway, ref the car - I have some pics for tomorrow when I can be arsed

Yes no water cooling (seemed actually to make little / no difference oddly) on my T4, and yes a nice big wing sump.

Still buggered it though!

Thanks for the pic Porkie - that was seconds before it totally died. Coming out of Camp I was with Martin, then down the straight to Avon Rise my boost started dropping from 28 psi to 15 psi - hence the gap in the pics.

I should have backed off then, but didn't

Ran round Quarry ok, tried nailing it after Martin - it didn't go, just spluttered and rattled.

At that point I knew it had passed away RIP

Pulled over safely behind the cones/barriers at the Esses, and watched the car as the heat shield burnt (pretty yellow flames) and my mates watching at Quarry came over to rip the piss, the buggers!

Why? Is the engine not built to take that kind of abuse bearing in mind that's where you use it?

Not digging - just curious, as you seem to have no luck!
Fair point Rich - some of the bits on it, and the money poured into it were to make it as reliable as my budget would allow.

So for it to break is gutting, and not what I thought would happen (although given my track record, I did kind of expect failure of something at some point)

I think honestly, in my hunt for silly power (ie my 500 bhp target) I totally forgot to spend on everything around it. I was on a standard rad still, after 5 years of track driving in the Cossie, with high water temps even at Bedford in Feb, perhaps maybe I should have done some work on stuff other than the engine

Who know

For me, I can't afford to put it right, unless it's minor. The state of the spark plug in no 1 suggests it's not good news though.

I couldn't bring myself to pulling it apart today, so spent 4 hours tidying the garage today, in preperation for the big strip down of everything on the car. Within a week or so my car will be back to component form... never to be buggered by me again
Sorry to hear more tales of woe.

I hope seriously hope that when you strip the head off its not as bad as thought....

I still have that mental picture of you puling away on the M5 from JJ and i at a serious rate of knots ( and we were not pussying our throttle pedals i can assure you!!!)

Gearbox and diffs are the only things working matey

My engine is buggered though, and I'm not going to fix it again. I think Martin should fix it though - he was going too fast for my engine to keep up with, so it's his fault I think!!

Paul J - thanks for the photos matey

Your little beastie seemed to be going very well - take it the tyres worked? How did you get on with them?

I think the Clio surprised quite a few, near standard, left an Evo and loads of other 'faster' motors.

Tyres were a huge benifit, defo gripped better but mainly didnt go off like the Eagles do on track.

Wore the fronts about 50% i reckon, will prob be after a couple more soon, gonna be on a proper Combe track day 3rd Aug and prob an action day in between.

Looks like it, its a goal post style trim, down both sides is rubber around metal and the top is just rubber C section that sits on the screen, has just blown out. Easy fix run some sikoflex style glue down there and shove it back. screen fitted to low.
