Just to confirm, over the past few months, Stu and I have talked rather a lot and Id like to think we know each other pretty well now, and I would certainly consider him to be a friend.

Sadly my brain on Sat evening seemed to shut down, and I didnt really read what Stu has put properly. Had I done so, I would never have reacted as I did

Top man Stu! Ill let you know how I get on with our friends at Turbo Technics.

Right - had a conversation with Turbo Technics reference the turbo.

They have advised me that the turbo died because of contaminants in the oil. they confessed that it was very unusual in the way that it had gone, and said that they thought it was consistent with oil contamination for a very long time.

I found this quite difficult to believe, becuase when we examined the big end bearings just 600 miles ago, they were found to be in excellent condition.

So in a nutshell, they aint gonna pay, which means I gotta pay!

Much more concerning now is the condition of the oil in the engine. I will now need to drain the oil and investigate the prescence of any contaminants.

Hmmmmmm - meant to be going to the nurburgring next week. Maybe it just aint meant to be!

Hi Steve

I am very very tempted, as you know . Im gonna get this one fixed anyway, as it is worth more to me repaired than in pieces. Talk to me when I get back from the Ring - we may be able to agree a price

what a shocker, oil contamination, dont know why turbo companies offer a waranty, as this is just a get out clause.

The bit that makes me laugh is that the turbo failing inevitably contaminates the oil!!!!!!

I am far more worried about my engine now that the turbo has gone bang though - will be dropping oil tomorrow

I would agree with this. Not sure exactly what the extra money I paid was for now! Particularly given the turbo didnt even manage two years and 14k miles!!!!!

I had various turbo deaths in the past relating to oil contamination.

Fitted a Bailey in line filter supplied by a very handy Doug I know!

No problems so far, I'd recommend you get one

Yes, I had considered that - but if there is shit in the engine - I would be a little scared for my shells first.....
