Default Gearbox problems? buy a sequential box then....

I couldn't find back the thread about someone who had problems with his gearbox on a 4x4.. well, that is probably anyone of you with 4x4 and some power but anywho...

Just to be the helpful myself i emailed Sellholm about gearboxes and they replied that they make sequential boxes for 2wd and 4wd Cossies..

I really don't know how durable they are but anyways..
The price for a 2wd seq box, (5-600 bhp), with display and gearlever is.....£7330 in Sweden...
And for the 4wd with approx same bhp the price is £14900..

Don't know if they can take more abuse but i asked for boxes to approx 5-600 bhp...

Nope... want a Fixit.

Thinking of stealing yours

Quaife has been rebuilt now. Needed new 2nd and 3rd gears and a few other bits.
Nice....

yeah, but you gotta have some bhp to have torque... but youre right.. gotta have them torques..

After what i have heard about FixIt youre probably better off stealing someones kit.. atleast if you want it this lifetime...

Not really mate, I ditched the unreliable YB engine from my Cossie and replaced it with a HUGE Diesel Truck engine... only makes 250bhp 1000000000000000000 lbft at 1500rpm...

Its great but I keep hitting the rev limiter out on track

Why not go for a Tremec box.... ok its not sequential but it sure can take the torque and it doesn't come with a 10 K pricetag

Porkie, are you using the latest big tooth gear set from Quaife? Me and my Dad recently found out there are 3 different big tooth gear sets varying in strength and he has the weakest set.

Really??? Don't know It broke because of a misfire to be fair. Not the gearboxes fault.... and it had had a VERY hard life and took it well

My Dad's came from a rally car so more than likely had the shit kicked out of it before hand then got thrown in a 400bhp car then had the power turned up to 500bhp with no launches but we was having a misfire problem on boost. I expected the standard diffs to give way first...

I would expect you had either the second strongest or strongest gear set in yours.

We have to rebuild the box as it is with the weaker gearset then upgrade to the strongest gearset as none of it is interchangable.

E-20Z1 is what my Dad has.

There is also a set labelled at E-20Z2 and E-20Z3....Z1 being weakest and Z3 being strongest....
