Default Interesting discussion on the MLR

Looks like some EVO owners on a thread have had their noses put out of joint about the Cosworth badge still getting respect in the car world. Most appreceiate a good car no matter what.

Some very blinkered people out there.

That was exactley what I was thinking, ruin a good car by putting a pratt behind the wheel. Works everytime.

Most on that site have the maturity to appreciate a 20yr old car for what it is & was.

for fuck sake, can people not see the YB engine is the best fookin 4cyl engine ever made

its not as if your born and you love the thing.... its when you start experiancing different motors you start to see a superiority of a certain car.

why do all non cosworth owners have a problem with em???? is it cause it still strikes fear when they see one or hear the name COSWORTH.

fucking dumb children

MLR is very blinkered, Jap community in general isn't a very nice place to be, not at least as good as the Ford one anyway!

one more thing, im only 22 but i seem to recall the massive success of the rs500's in the touring cars which if im not mistaken ran YB's.

I know a guy who owns ferraris, buggati EB110 SS and more but still has an RS500 and swears he'd die with the thing, he said he'll never sell it ever, but if i had the money he'd sell the EB110 SS but never the 500

I think EVO's are superb cars. Know a few people who have and do own them, i have also driven a couple. I still wouldnt sell my shitty old Saph for one though, unless i needed a new car for everyday use.

They just dont seem to have the soul of the cossie and are deffinately not as exciting to drive.

As for the jap lot turning there nose's up at the Fords. Thats very true in most areas apart from a select few. The skylard owners are normally pretty cool and interested in Cossies i have found.

I test drove a FQ340 a couple of weeks ago, brilliant car & goes like you stole it ! But would I look at it in 6 yrs time, which is how long i've owned the Escort Cos & think oh dear what was I thinking ??

I still look at the Escort now & it puts a smile on my face, without even driving it.

Oi...don't tar us all with the same brush. A few of us Scooby owners appreciate Cossies, hell, I owned one and loved it, just wanted to try the other side of the fence.

That post though, 5 pages of drivel before Mr Rainbird made a concise point

Cheers

at Ford Fair 2006 i was blown away at the handling of two escort cosworths from the Ford saloon car championships (blue, pink ones).

i still have to keep watching the footage i took of them laping road cars while chasing each other

I know they have been set up for track but just goes to show they are capible of superior handling.

No he did not hand them anything Simon, he merely put across an enthusiast point of veiw that was realistic and unbiased,

But i have no doubt that on the track he might just do that to some

Id say this is the ultimate Escort and would embarrass just about every Evo going but it does help that Gareth is also a fantastic driver.

I love the idea of the Cav Sri being cited as a car of good handling!

I take this as a compliment frankly. Given how superior technically the EVO actually is on paper (given the generations difference in age), I find it astounding that they find the Cosworth so unbelievably threatning!

Also, the other slight hitch that they have is that the Cossie in its day was frankly signficantly ahead of its peers. The EVO is simply one of an awful lot of different types of cars that you can choose from!

There are some right presumptuous and blinkered twats on MLR without a doubt although I'll give them something in that they are right when they say a lot Cossies do not handle very well. Other than cheap and easy, God knows what Ford were thinking when they put semi-trailing arms on a performance car.

I have to agree there, joined the MLR back in Dec as i was looking into buying an Evo and noticed straight away that there is not much humour on there

It is a very good site with alot of very good information but people make a forum what it is.
