No, provide evidence of where you were at the time of the alleged offence (even if thats just a statement from you), and state clearly that your car was parked on the driveway, then see what they do, I suspect they will drop it.
Go to pepipoo though, they know far more than people on here.

Copper must have been in a bad mood. As previously said, its down to his discretion. If its dark, crappy weather and your doing 85 inside the braking distance to the car in front, don't think you've a leg to stand on.
If its 85 on a clear night with no other traffic about, then thats unlucky.
I got stopped coming back from Penshaw on the A19 where the copper told me I AVERAGED 92mph. He just smiled, told me not to be so daft and sent me on my way. That was a clear night with no other traffic. But then I got points for doing 34 up Ormesby Bank a few years ago. Just depends on the mood and the copper.
If you think you can beat the ticket, contest it, if you don't think you'll win, take the fine and points.
Cheers
Matt

it was windy, however my the roads were empty and my driving wasnt dangerous, it'l be only cos im young and i drive an orite car. Whilst i was gettin done they were checking my car for any possible fault which would mean anutha 3 points and my license taken off me.

A copper tried to take me to court on my motorbike and said I was doing some silly speed @ 10.30 AM instead of PM.
I took it to court, magistrate said it was a clerical error and tough. Fortunately though, I had the repair paperwork from the rebuild on my bike to prove that it was:
a/ not possible due to mechanical problems (headgasket had gone and had repair paperwork to prove it)
b/ the magistrate knew the bit of road I had been "speeding" on and agreed that it would not have been possible to do what the copper said I had been doing as I would have been dead. 64 mph turning right on a "dot-in-the-road" roundabout when you could only turn left/right with a pub opposite is not possible, and the roundabout it the size of a car on a Honda CG125 commuter bike ain't possible. Period.
If the magistrate hadn't been sensible though, I'd would have had a ban.
Anyway, I digress, you CAN get done, the day will not make a difference as the cop car will have you on camera, your face, your registration and a permanent date / time stamp on the footage.
3 points, your way!!!

Having said that, for my first year of driving it was impossible for me to get a speeding fine as i was driving a 1.9 SDi VW Caddy van - Really struggle to break the speed limit in that thing

Unfortunately, a magistrate isn't stupid They realise that these things happen.
Word of advice for anyone contesting something like this, avoid a "Newton" hearing (check spelling/pronounciation) as from what I can gather from my solicitor, the copper can basically say what he wants and you can't do jack about it. My hearing went to that, and I was lucky to have a sensible magistrate.

what im trying to say is, the evidence is dated 17th march however the ticket is dated the 18th...will the magistrate turn a blind eye to the separate dates?
