Default Help!! Cossie fuel cap is stuck on

As above on my Sapphire, I went to fuel it up and cant get the cap off. Tried WD40 and jiggling it about but will it hell move.

Anyone had this problem or got any suggestions as Im seriously low on fuel and I dont dare use the car now.

Cheers.

Where on the cap did you spray the wd40?

Anywhere and everywhere, down the barrel and gently prised the edge of the cap up and gave it a good soaking all round it.

WD-40 isn't the best thing to use on locks. A graphite based 'dry' lubricant is recommended for locks, although adding it now may not be the best idea.

is it a locked metal one or plastic version

if locked pencil lead crushed down helps the key twist ..

but as bill said the wd40 wont help as it will be wet inside now ..

and may make it worse

When you eventually get it off, do what I did.

I bought a complete lock replacement kit from ford for not that much (less than £50) which provided me with a complete set - Ignition, two doors, fuel cap and boot.

I did mine, and it was like a new car! I was having similar issues with my cap as well

I konw this wont help you get the thing off, but when you do, it will help you solve it in the long term

No idea, think its possibly plastic but could be wrong.

The key doesnt want to turn any more than maybe 10mm and then thats it. Its pissing me off now cos I need to use the car as my ZX runaround has blew its radiator.
