Default project planning, some advice needed

Hi

i been a massive fan of fast fords for years, i owned a couple of mk6 escorts in the past but now im looking into starting a project in the summer...

im want a mk5 RS2000 bulge bonnet version but i want to replace the I4 with a RS turbo engine, and im starting to look into my options before i commit and buy the car.

the main reason behind this idea is that i want a turbo charged car but i want something bespoke and something to keep me busy. I want a healthy but also reliable 200ish bhp with room for improvement in the future but to get that from the I4 would be far to expensive. im not looking to spend a massive amount of money but im also not going to penny pinch over it. Another reason is that i could use many existing parts from CVH engine mk5s like the mounts etc.

however i cant decide what route i want to go down, do i use a fez or escort setup and then do i stick with a standard 1600, use a 1900 tall block or even 2.1ZVH so im looking for some of your opinions to help me decide as it very new to me.

what are the benefits of a EFi setup?

also the gear box do i stick with the MTX75 or should i use a RST box, how hard is it fit to a MTX75 to a RST engine? I am guessing that the drive shafts and linkages will all still fit with out any customising if I use the MTX75, but i also suppose the CVH mk5 drive shafts will fit the RST box.

this will all be very new to me as i am a complete amateur but i want to try and tackle to majority of it myself so if there is any advice or suggestions you many have ill be very grateful to hear them..

getting excited now!
