Default Linksys Wireles Routers.........

Has anyone got one? I bought a wireless router package over a year ago and the wireless on it has been fucking shocking.

Anyone got any useful tips, as their customer support are about as much use a chocolate teapot, telling me to install updated drivers which are actually the same etc

Its only the wireless though, it would only conenct when it wanted to, and always used to drop out and had poor range.

I ununstalled the driver for the PCMCIA card and re-installed to find it was the same driver! It now seems to connect everytime, but the wireless drops out every 8-9 minutes

Well the Linksys WAG54G is the biggest pile of poo i have ever sold. CISCO should be ashamed to put there name to such a poor product.

and netgear hard to configure? my mum could do it

i don't know about any recent linksys products but after the WAG54G experience i think i'll stick with netgear

We are now having problems with our Belkin unit. We have one for APT and both Gary and I run them at home and they are all playing up at the moment. (Mine and the APT one particularly). Makes you wonder about inbuilt written bugs. They never missed a beat for a year and are now playing up.

Fuck me this is getting on my tits now

Another 9 minutes, another connection dropped

Anyone got any advice to offer? The technical support had me change some settings in the router, Beacon Interval, RTS Threshold, and Fragmentation Threshold

And again (another 9 minutes)

Nope, AVG free, thats it! The only firewall is the one built into the router!

Change the wireless channel within the router - you have someting interfering with it....!

mine is running the atest firmware and is not too bad at the moment saying that ... dont suppose you have a bluetooth unit on the pc do you??

Eagle, my mate has the wrt54g, my laptop works fine with his router, was on for 2 hours solidly. Think he had to upgrade his firmware when he got his. You should be fine

Mine is the more primitive wrk54g, single antenna jobby. And there is no newer firmware for mine.

And no, no bluetooth

I havent upgraded, the firmware on the router is a high version than the firmware available for d/l on the linksys site!

Just a thought......mobile phones.............but its a proper old shitty 8310 so no bluetooth or anything, would that interfere?
