Default Audi people.... help needed..

Am having alarm problems with my wifes 2001 Audi A4 Avant TDi and wondered if there are any checks i can do rather than having to take it to the dealer.

Cant lock it just now as alarm starts beeping after about 5 seconds if you do lock it

Is there any kind of self tests i can do to try and find out where the fault might be at ?

Try unplugging the alarm siren, i think it's near the battery somewhere on the a4.

-it's normally the sirens that play up btw, they're about £80 new.

£80 for a fooking horn

Will give that a try, wife has also mentioned about sometimes the interior lights not going off on their own so could maybe be looking at a fooked door switch or alarm switch could i ???

get on the audi forums, and see if there is someone near you with vag-com, obd port software, had same issues, told me a had a knakered door switch, and siren battery was dead

if your batterys dead like said, £80 or renew the battery for a few quid, ive done mine,

Yes possible, try finding which door is at fault, i.e. which door keeps the interior lights on then give it a bloody good slam see if the light goes off then, normally it will and then if the alarm works as it should thats your fault.

Only the interior light door switch is part of the latch and thats another easy £80.

Fil, i'm impressed!

Whats the best Audi forum to have a look on then ??

Have to admit this is the best forum site i've been on and most seem to be genuine and helpfull when asking about a problem.
