Default car insurance

my mate needs insurance on an rs turbo, he's only 18.
he's been getting quotes for £2000 which is rediculous, there must be some company out there to give him a decent quote, my insurance company won't touch him.
would they take into consideration that he's been insured on a motor bike for 2 years also.
any advice please.

cheers craig

Well, if you were an insurance company, would YOU insure an 18yr old in an RS Turbo?

I bloody wouldn't!!

No matter what you think at the moment, when I look back on what I was like at 18 - I was an absolute liability!!

When I was 21 (1994) it cost £800 3rd party on a 205 Gti.

So £2k now for a driver 3 years younger with no NCB, sounds aboyt right TBH.

I would say £2k to insure an RST at 18 is fucking good. My brother paid £1600 at 19 to insure his RST.

He would be far better off getting a snotter and learning some road sense before jumping behind the wheel of something he almost certainly won't be able to handle

You could try Adrian Flux or Hyperformance, both in the back of fast ford.

This reminds me of when I tried to insure my first R5 GTT at 17

Silly bollocks here went and bought a Black mint H plate and me being or thinking I was clever with it being only a 1.4 THOUGHT I was onto a winner for my first car

Cheapest quote I had ?

£4500

Sold one week later in the trader

Thats a bargain for a new driver with zero experience and zero NCB.

I'd second getting a shitter to hack about in for a year (or 10 mths on an accelerator policy), then try again.

Sorry, but age and NCB are the only sure fire way to cheap insurance.

and £1100 TPF&T at 21 on a moondust frst with 3 yrs ncb

now ive got 8yrs ncb, no points and 2 years ncb on a gsxr 600, my evo 5 still sets me back £1153 fully comp
